What this network keeps, and what it never does.
Updated 31 October 2026. If anything here stops being true, this page changes at the same time as the system.
Who is responsible
One volunteer in Newmarket runs this today.
This public page
Cloudflare delivers this site. It sees the address you connect from, the page you open, and the time, the same as any public website. These pages set no cookies and load nothing else. No ads, no analytics, no trackers.
Getting on
The login server remembers which devices are on the network: the name you chose, the device name, and when it was last seen. It does not see what you send to other people on the network.
The computer that runs login also writes a short record of each visit to that login page: the address you connected from, the time, and the path. That record is kept for about 14 days.
Once you are on
Search and the directory run on a home server in Newmarket. That server records the time, the page, and the browser's name. It does not record who asked.
What you type into search stays in your browser.
The Square keeps your username, what you post, and anything you add to your profile. Public posts can be read by every member. Private messages are stored on the server and are not end to end encrypted. The operator can read them. Do not send anything you would not want an admin to see.
Photos lose their location data when they are uploaded.
Those pages load nothing from outside the network. No ads, no analytics, no fonts, no trackers. Service logs rotate when they reach 30 MB, and the old ones are deleted.
What we never do
- Sell, rent, or trade anything about you.
- Show ads, or use analytics, trackers, or fingerprinting.
- Share what we hold with a business or another group.
- Publish where a member lives.
If police or a court asks, the operator hands over only what a valid Canadian legal order requires, and tells the member affected unless the order forbids it.
Your choices
You can ask what is held about you, and get it. You can ask to have a Square account deleted. Ask the neighbour who invited you. Requests are answered within 30 days.
